Palazzo della Ragione


Popularly called “Il Salone”, Palazzo della Ragione is one of the largest environment in Italy that has no equal in Italian civil architecture. Built in 1218 and raised in 1306, it was the seat of the city courts of the city of Padua until 1797.


The large hanging room that occupies the last floor of the building is called “Il Salone”, featured by an impressive cycle of frescoes with an astrological subject. There are also several artistic and architectural elements, such as the monumental wooden horse and the two Egyptian sphinxes adorning the sides of the entrance door.
